Family oral history was that my Great Grandfather was a blacksmith in Much Wenlock in Shropshire,
. Research has found William Welch born 1843 in Newport Shropshire, and a Blacksmith. He is recorded as living in Longton Stoke-on-Trent (Staffordshire in 1881 and his children as being down in Market Drayton (Shropshire), the Tent Valley (Staffordshire) and Longton. But, no link to Much Wenlock is recorded!
So far we have not traced Williams parents.
