Family Search has what seems to be the same family, but all born (and Richard & Parnel married) in Blackrod rather Wigan! Also some of the dates of birth are different.

Madge's research shows the family as living in Wigan (with one listed as born in Aspull) however, they seem to have been buried in Blackrod and to have "parish records" in Blackrod. There is presumably a family link to the chapel/church in Blackrod. But, the family lived and worked in Wigan.

"Richard's birth certificate says he was born 14th March 1813. His father is James his mother is Nanny??? All this is from chapel records in Blackrod but it gives their address as Wigan. James is listed as an Innkeeper."

Document source 1881 census : This has Thomas Walls declaring his place of birth as Wigan. and Robert born in approx' 1848 in Wigan.

I have two possible matches in the 1881 census for James Walls 1844.

At 30 Stoney Lane, Hindley, there are :-

• James Walls, 37, born in Pemberton, occupation "Coal and Metal",
• Ann Walls, 36, wife, born in Haigh,
• William Walls, 10, son, born in Hindley,
• Thomas, 8, son, born in Hindley,
• Elizabeth 5, daughter, born in Hindley,
• Ann 10 weeks, daughter, born in Hindley.

The 1881 census shows Samuel Hayes and Parnell Hayes living at 119 Stoney Lane Hindley.
