James Collins
Tewksbury, Gloucestershire

Butcher

|
Harriett Collins b. 1831-1833 Tewksbury, Gloucestershire

m.16 May 1858 St.Mary's Cardiff

|
We know that Harriett's father was a butcher, but that would only show on the 1851 census or later,
it does not help with the 1841 census.
I can not find a James Collins who is a butcher in Tewsbury in the 1851 census.
There are two deaths for a James Collins in Tewksbury before the 1851 census.
- 4th quarter 1843 (vol 11 page 366)
- 1st quarter 1850 (vol 11 page 389)
These two deaths occur after the 1841 census and before the 1851 census. If Harriets father was
one of these deaths it would explain why we can not find him in the 1851 census.
Of course Harriets father may have died before registration of births deaths and marriages began.
1841
The 1841 census has for Tewksbury
- a James Collins, aged 50 (born about 1791) and Winnifred Collins also 50.
At the same address are

- Winnifred Plimmer, aged 7
- Edwin Plimmer, aged 4
- a James Collins, aged 60 (born about 1781) with Altha Collins, also 60.
1851
In the 1851 census, there are

At the same address are
- with an Elizabeth Collins, wife, aged 64 (born in Herefordshire)
- and Elizabeth Collins 23 daughter.
